Project Management

The Mediterranean island of Mallorca, with its stunning scenery and cosmopolitan lifestyle, continues to be chosen by so many as the location of their dream home or second residence. But finding the property is only the beginning of the process: many houses need to be modernised and adapted to the personal style of the buyer, and this is where Justine Knox comes in. With over 35 years living on the island and more than 16 years successfully managing all manner of projects, she is able to offer a one-stop, seamless and ultra-professional project management service, covering all aspects: architectural, construction, electrical, plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, carpentry and decoration.

The key to ensuring everything comes together is an approach that is rigid when it needs to be but flexible enough to adapt to unexpected events, which invariably crop up. Attention to detail is everything, achieved through regular site meetings, proper coordination of project orders, managing tradespeople and effective troubleshooting of any issues that might arise.  Between concept and completion there is a lot of activity taking place that needs to be tightly managed so that your project runs smoothly and delivered on time. When a project is entrusted to Justine Knox, these are the tasks she generally and personally undertakes:

  • Overall project coordination and planning with specific focus on time, cost and quality.
  • Organising, scheduling and checking deliveries of materials (kitchen, bathroom fittings, flooring).
  • Managing work schedule – ensuring the right people are on site in the right order and minimising stress.
  • Sourcing furniture, appliances, tradespeople and obtaining estimate for the work you want done.
  • Managing the tradespeople on site (builders, specialist kitchen and bathroom fitters, gardeners).
  • Regularly visiting the site to oversee work is done according to plan.
  • Final handover followed by snagging.

A guest bedroom should never feel like the room wh A guest bedroom should never feel like the room where everything else ended up.

When your home is full during the summer, you quickly discover whether your guest accommodation genuinely works. Can your guests unpack? Is there somewhere to put a suitcase, hang their clothes, make a cup of coffee or sit quietly for a few minutes? Do they have good bedside lighting, privacy and enough space to feel comfortable?

I always try to think beyond the bed itself. A bench gives guests somewhere to sit or place their luggage. Drawers and hanging space allow them to settle in. Soft lighting, beautiful bed linen and thoughtful details make the room feel welcoming, while a little touch of luxury reminds them that this space was designed with them in mind.

Your guests may have come to spend time with you, but they still need a room that feels like their own private retreat.

If having a houseful this summer exposed a few shortcomings in your guest bedrooms, now is the ideal time to rethink them before next season.

ABOUT ME

I’m Justine Knox, an award-winning British interior designer based in Mallorca. For more than 30 years, I have been creating colourful, characterful homes that reflect the people who live in them. From full renovations and interior design projects to furniture, fabrics and finishing touches, my team and I help homeowners create spaces that feel as good as they look.
You’re good at what you do. But are you actually g You’re good at what you do. But are you actually good at running the business around it?

Do you know what you should be charging, or are you still picking a number and hoping the client doesn’t question it?

Can you explain, clearly, why someone should choose YOU?

Are you taking on work you don’t really want because you’re frightened of turning it down?

Are you attracting the kind of clients and projects you actually want, or just accepting whatever comes through the door?

Does your brand really represent you and the level you’re working at now?

And here’s a big one: are you still trying to do absolutely everything yourself because you think that’s what running your own business means?

I know these questions because I’ve had to answer them myself.

I’ve been running a creative business for almost 30 years. I’ve got things wrong. I’ve learnt about clients, money, boundaries, confidence, positioning and the importance of knowing what you do well and what you absolutely do not want to do.

And one of the things giving me enormous satisfaction now is being able to pass some of that knowledge on!

My “Design for Joy: Studio Sessions” are my one-to-one mentoring sessions for creative people who want to build a better business around the thing they are already brilliant at.

You might be an interior designer, an artist, a home stager or working in a completely different creative field. You don’t need me to teach you how to be creative.

But perhaps you do need someone experienced to sit across the table from you, ask the questions you’ve been avoiding, look at what you’re doing with a fresh pair of eyes and help you work out what needs to change.

I’m not interested in turning you into a version of me. I want to help you become more confident about YOU, your work, your value and the business you want to build.

And I’m discovering that watching another creative person have that moment when something suddenly clicks is one of the most rewarding things I get to do.

So let me ask you one more uncomfortable question.

What do you already know needs to change in your business, but you keep putting off?

If you know the answer, perhaps it’s time we had a conversation.
Give yourself permission to choose JOY in your hom Give yourself permission to choose JOY in your home.

It’s the interiors equivalent of dancing like no one is watching 💃🕺

Choose the colour because it makes you smile. Mix the patterns because you love them. Add the texture, hang the art, buy the fabulous lamp, and paint the ceiling if you want to!

Your home doesn’t need to impress anyone else. It needs to make YOU feel good.

So consider this your official permission slip.

❤️ More colour!
💜 More pattern!
💚 More personality!
💛More joy!

Because beige never made anyone want to dance around the kitchen.

What do you think of the fabrics we chose? Would you love to have them hanging in your home as well? Let me know in the comments!

This Puerto Pollensa property was much more than a This Puerto Pollensa property was much more than an interior styling project. It was a complete renovation, created over three years in close collaboration with the owners, architects, quantity surveyor and building team.

I was involved throughout, from the layouts, lighting, electrics and plumbing to the flooring, wall colours, windows, doors, kitchens, bathrooms, bespoke furniture, fabrics and finishing details.

The result is a relaxed and elegant family holiday home that makes the most of its extraordinary views across Pollensa Bay. Soft sandy tones, blues inspired by the sea, natural woods, subtle metallic finishes and carefully commissioned artwork create a sense of continuity throughout the property, while giving each room its own character.

For me, full-service interior design means looking beyond individual rooms. It is about understanding how the entire home should flow, function and feel, then making sure every decision contributes to that vision.
