CALA FORNELLS PROJECT My clients, having been le CALA FORNELLS PROJECT My clients, having been let down by their original contractor, called me in to finish the renovation of this ground floor holiday apartment in Cala Fornells in SW Mallorca. This involved fitting a brand new kitchen, flooring, electrics, plumbing, air conditioning, and heating and audio-visuals. The aim was to create a surprising blend of grown-up fun and sophistication for family use. The bedrooms showcase my bold use of colour. For the master bedroom, I chose a combination of lilac, aqua, and sand. A purple velvet headboard and bright purple throw cushions, light cinnamon curtains, and rugs, all picked up in the stunning wallpaper with a leaf and flower motif What do you think of the colour scheme? Some people make the mistake of thinking that the "small things" don't really matter, but they are the things that matter the most. When you lead a team of creative and practical professionals like I do I have to show them by my own example how I want them to work, and to what standard, and then I have to let those people show me their own attention to detail. And that is how we work as a team on every project, every element matters to us because collectively it results in perfection. I say that it's about creating areas that suggest the potential of adventures and of fun moments spent enjoying the versatile living spaces I design, and probably sipping a cocktail or two beside the fire. A crucial part of this process for me is to imagine who would love to live in the house and what they would love to do. With this project in Son Gual, the brief was simply to appeal to buyers. A wide remit when you start to think about it.
