For this project Justine Knox was asked to paint, decorate and furnish a ground floor apartment in Paguera, in the SW coast of Mallorca, as well as fit in a jacuzzi. It had been purchased by a German couple for use as a holiday home. Their preference for turquoise and blues is evident in the colour scheme that was chosen, mixed with other complementary tones to evoke a distinct Mediterranean mood.

For the indoor seating area Justine chose a silvery-grey velvet L-shaped sofa peppered with light and soft aqua coloured cushions, set off by the bright turquoise rug, white lacquered coffee table and artwork featuring a rowing boat in the same tones. The dining area features a white lacquer and chrome dining table and matching side unit and very practical white leather chairs, all placed on a soft blue-grey rug. Above the dining table hangs a stunning chrome and glass contemporary chandelier. The nautical theme of accessories like the starfish and coral ornaments, the deep turquoise feature wall and turquoise glass vases work together with the white for a cool and sophisticated seaside space.

The guest bedroom is decorated in navy and white. Justine chose an intricate blue and white patterned wallpaper for the feature wall to help disguise the awkward column running down the middle. As well as creating ambiance and mood, design can be used to play down structural flaws and drawbacks. The headboard, bedlinen and night tables are bright white, contrasting with the navy cushions with embroidered coral motifs and the soft cornflower blue tones of the curtains.

The master bedroom is a bright composition in turquoise. The back wall has been covered in a stunning block stucco effect wallpaper in tones of aquamarine, the perfect backdrop for the deep turquoise bedcover, cushions boasting white and turquoise striped and undulated patterns, the cerulean blue rug and grey, white and turquoise modern design curtains.

Being on the ground floor, the apartment benefits from a small garden with decking and a lawn. As well as fitting the hot tub, Justine Knox chose all-weather rattan furniture for the seating area and dining space, further enhancing the privacy and exclusivity of the space by placing bamboo screening along the wall.
