I was delighted to be featured in Platinum Magazine (https://platinum-mag.co.uk) this summer, a huge thank you to them!

Interior designer Justine Knox – also known as the “Queen of Dopamine Decor” – is known for her bright, bold and beautiful designs. Here, she tells us how her journey into the world of home design began and where she finds inspiration for her designs.
My career as an interior designer began “on the job” when I was assisting the clients of my husband’s building business. It was then that I discovered this was my calling and I proceeded to complement my experience with formal courses in home staging, feng shui, decluttering, colour and more, to enrich my skills and enhance my confidence.

I was always a neat and tidy child and loved the challenge of redecorating my bedroom. So my interest in interior design was there from an early age, and I have been fortunate to develop my passion into a full-blown career. As well as earning a living, I have also earned recognition in the industry worldwide, having been a guest speaker at High Point Market USA; and Home Meeting Mallorca.
I have now been working as an interior designer for more than 20 years, mostly in Mallorca where I live. I am also used to working remotely with my clients and have carried out projects in the UK, Balearics and America. My projects range from pure interior design to full home renovations where I work with a tried and trusted team of trades to turn houses into beautiful and unique homes.

I have travelled all over the world with my family and try to reflect the magic I discover in my designs. I love bringing the outside in and I am hugely inspired by nature from the textures and changing colours of the landscape to the underwater wonders I delight in when scuba diving. My designs are never sombre or tame: I am known for my bold colour schemes, surprising textures and original shapes, all seamlessly assembled to be pleasing to the eye – it’s why I’m often called the “Queen of Dopamine Decor”!
My fabric studio is probably the largest in Mallorca and I consider it to be my candy store. It is where I love to play and bring interiors to life with the endless possibilities of bespoke soft furnishings for unique projects. Cushions, in particular, are one of my favourite items to add an instant pop of colour, texture and pattern to a space. Plus they are functional in that they add comfort and support and can be easily swapped out to change with the seasons or refresh a look.

Overall, I strongly believe your home should bring you personal joy. Never mind the trends, your friends or magazine spreads. Your home should give you a hug when you walk through the front door and lift your spirits.
