It was a lovely surprise to have the Crisp family

It was a lovely surprise to have the Crisp family visit us at Knox Design recently. Not only did Emma, Michael and son Xander come to say hi, but they brought chocolates!

I have known the Crisps since I renovated their property in Soller 8 years ago, you can read Emma’s testimonial below about her experience with the Knox team below.

Whilst Emma was browsing around the store she said the nicest thing to one of my team, “Justine made our holiday house into a holiday home where you can really relax.”

“Having bought a holiday home in Mallorca we were faced with the prospect of having to undertake refurbishments and also furnish the house in its entirety, quite a daunting prospect given that we would have to organise the majority of this work from back home in England.

“We found Knox Design via their website and having spoken to several other companies who offered similar refurbishment and design services in Mallorca, we felt that Knox Design offered the most complete solution and from the outset seemed to approach the project with a level of professionalism and proficiency that the others did not seem to offer.

“Undertaking a large refurb and design project from afar definitely causes some anxiety and therefore it was very important to me that I found someone who I felt I could trust and rely on to manage the project in our absence. I am pleased to say that my instincts were right and that it quickly became clear that our house project was in safe hands. Justine took time to really understand what we were hoping to achieve and she came up with a design scheme that matched the brief while also giving us her guidance and advice where it was needed.

“The entire project ran smoothly and was completely stress free, or at least it was from our point of view! Step into the jewellery box!

As an interior designer I think the most important discussion you have with your clients is not about what their favourite colours are or what kind of sofa they want, but their lifestyle and how they and their family will use and live in their home. I worked with Liz and Tony to create their beautiful home in Pollensa over the course of almost three years and during that time we made some important decisions together. Let’s take this dressing room as an example.

This space had been destined to become an office in their original plans, but became their dressing room after a few in depth discussions with me about how best to use the area.

Once the decision had been taken I designed the cabinetry with leather insets and had it made by hand here on the island. The iconic Crittall-style glass doors that I chose feature a powder-grey frame which complements the muted colours in the light fittings, switches and door handles which give an overall inviting ambiance and classic elegance. The glass doors also allow for natural light to fall into the corridor between the dressing room and master bedroom. With the lighting, glass, mirrors and cabinets installed it gives the feeling that you are stepping into a jewellery box! I am delighted with the finished result, as are Liz and Tony.

Let's talk a bit more about this spectacular project in Pollensa.

The ground floor features a central lobby with a stunning palm motif feature wall and one of several bespoke artwork pieces by local artist Sylvia Baker de Perkal. Light wood furniture, including a central table and side console, contributes to the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere.
