2 week transformation! This leaky old pool was des 2 week transformation! This leaky old pool was desperate to be loved again. We stripped the tiles, made good and laminated it.
Renovations never go exactly to plan. At Project Renovations never go exactly to plan. At Project Tortuga we started with a simple brief, lighten and brighten the apartment. But once demolition began we discovered wiring hidden inside the archway that meant the design had to change slightly. It is a good reminder that renovation is always a process of discovery. In this episode I walk you through the progress so far, share a small lighting tip that makes a big difference, and take you behind the scenes in the studio as we prepare designs for another client project. Another year older today and feeling very grateful Another year older today and feeling very grateful. As another year rolls around I find myself wanting less “stuff” in life (although I should probably clarify… cushions are definitely still allowed). Instead I’m craving more of the things that matter: more time with my family and friends, continued good health, and hopefully some peace in what feels like a very crazy world. Mostly though, I just feel thankful for the people in my life, family, friends and the wonderful clients who bring so much joy and colour to my days. Thank you so much for all the birthday messages, they have really made my day.
Unpopular opinion incoming… Sometimes the best Unpopular opinion incoming… Sometimes the best new sofa is the one you already have 😏 In this project I transformed a much-loved sofa with new high-performance fabric and redesigned back cushions for extra comfort and support. The result feels completely refreshed without replacing a piece that was already the right size and beautifully made. Recovering a good quality sofa can cost close to buying new, but when the structure is solid and the comfort is right, it can be the smarter choice. It gives your furniture a new life and keeps perfectly good pieces out of landfill. Buy well, design for joy, and keep it for years to come. Watch the whole episode on my YouTube channel.
