Look who popped into Knox Design! Chris and Cher Look who popped into Knox Design! Chris and Cheryl were in town and dropped by for a catch-up and a browse! It was such a joy to see them again and hear how much they’re loving their renovated apartment. Working on their home was an absolute pleasure, and it’s always special when clients become friends. The aim with their Nova Santa Ponsa apartment was to lighten, brighten, and modernise the space, creating a calm and welcoming home for their multi-generational family. Chris and Cheryl are incredibly close to their children and grandchildren, so it was important to design with that in mind. We knocked through walls to create a larger, open-plan kitchen with a seating area for the grandchildren, redesigned the bathrooms with suspended storage and walk-in showers, and painted all the woodwork crisp white. Finishing touches included bespoke radiator covers, new wardrobe doors, practical yet stylish fabrics and furnishings – and a few meaningful details, like African artwork in the lounge, to reflect their roots. 💬 “We couldn’t be happier. Did you know your home can actually lift your mood Did you know your home can actually lift your mood – or drag it down? As an interior designer, I’ve always believed in the power of joyful spaces. Now, the research is catching up. Studies show that natural light, colour, and even the textures in your home can directly affect your mental well being. Here’s a few ways that I bring joy into the homes I design: Light Natural light boosts serotonin and helps regulate sleep. I always look at how to maximise it (and bring in artificial light when we need to). Colour Colour psychology is real. Blues can calm, yellows uplift, pinks soothe, and greens restore. I love working with bold colours that bring energy and personality. Texture & Scent Soft fabrics, natural materials, comforting scents, and even the gentle hum of life in a space can all have a positive impact on how you feel at home. For me, Design for Joy is about creating homes that don’t just look beautiful – they feel like a hug. I think we all need that. Ready to add more joy to your space?
